Altek Leo
Released June, 2010
The Pros:Cameraphone or phonecamera? finally combines a real point-and-shoot camera with a smartphone. Video recording in HD (720p). Brushed aluminum - looks like a solid & attractive design.
The Cons:Unlikely to appear in North America as it will be introduced & launched during the CommunicAsia. No-name Asian brand - strange to be getting all of this attention. Complex optics make it more susceptible to breaking than a normal fixed zoom camera phone.
Altek, a Taiwanese digital camera OEM whose products usually get rebranded, announced the "Leo" on May 27, 2010 on their website. The product aims to combine a smartphone with a point-and-shoot 14MP digital camera.

In contrast to other camera-smartphones, it includes a 3x optical zoom telescoping lens (6.5mm-13.5mm focal length, f-ratio 1:3.1-5.6), 720p video recording, and a flash. The smartphone OS is not confirmed as of the date of the announcement, however, telling from the menu buttons, it is likely to run Google's open-source Android.
