The Nokia 6790 Surge is a higher-end smartphone enabled for the 3G network and offering numerous smartphone features. It has a sliding frame design that exposes a full QWERTY keyboard, and a 2.4" LCD screen with 16 million colors.

It uses the Symbian operating system, S60, and is capable of multiple messaging formats including multimedia, text and email, and has a GPS receiver. The AT&T release of this phone also features AT&T navigator software. The Surge has an mp3 and video player, as well as an FM radio receiver, and a PDF and Office document reader as well. Its internal memory capacity is 128MB but this can be expanded up to 8GB with a microSD card. Its camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels and can capture video at QVGA resolutions. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, Java support and an HTML web browser.
