$270.00 Released November, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Display is very bright, can be used in daylight without a problem. Navigation is easy and intuitive, no instructions needed. Email interface is user friendly, comfortable to work with.

The Cons:Buttons and controls are small, hard to work with. Camera creates a low resolution image, always either too bright or too dark. MSN IM client has a hard time connecting.

The Samsung i617 BlackJack II is, as its name implies, the upgraded version of the earlier Samsung i607 BlackJack. It is tri-band receptive on the 3G network, and quad-band on the 2G. Its frame design is very similar to the BlackJack I, as it has a large, 2.4" and 65k-color display, as well as a full QWERTY keypad.

One upgrade is that the i617 has a trackwheel which is supposed to make menu and library navigation easier. The operating system is updated as well, using Windows Mobile 6.0 instead of 5.0, and still includes Pocket Office document viewer/editor. The i617 has an mp3 and video player, as well as a 1.3-megapixel digital camera with video capture. It has a mobile TV receiver as well, and can use this feature depending on service provider. The i617's internal memory is also larger than the i607, with 128MB of RAM and 256 of ROM, and still uses a microSD card slot to expand up to 4GB. The processor is also 60MHz faster than the i607's.
